Payroll Practitioner

• Paying $60.05-65.81 + super
• Fortitude Valley QLD location with WFH Flexibility provided
• 12 month temp contract with possible extensions.

About the Role

Our client are a government organisation based in Fortitude Valley QLD. They are currently seeking a Payroll Practitioner to come in and join their team on a 12 month temp contact with possible extensions.

Candidates for this role must have:

• Previous experience in a payroll or financial management role or environment
• Demonstrated knowledge of and/or experience in operating SAP payroll.
• Must have end to end payroll experience

Key responsibilities will include

• Full-Cycle Payroll Delivery Ensure the timely and precise execution of all pre-payroll and post-payroll procedural activities to guarantee Council employees are paid correctly and on schedule.
• Complex Entitlement Management Apply a deep understanding of leave loadings, penalties, and Long Service Leave (LSL) to maintain accurate employee records and payments.
• Leave Portability & Compliance Oversee the administration of leave portability and ensure all data entry and calculations align with Council policies and industrial standards.
• Process Optimization Partner with the Payroll Team Leader to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the efficiency of payroll business processes.
• Strategic BAU Transition Successfully undertake a structured knowledge transfer from the Subject Matter Expert (SME) to assume full responsibility for Business-As-Usual (BAU) operations.
• System Implementation Support Facilitate the successful rollout of the new payroll system by maintaining operational stability while the SME focuses on project delivery phases.

About You

• You will be an experienced Payroll professional with proven experience and reliability in previous positions
• The successful candidate will possess:
• Previous experience in a payroll or financial management role or environment
• Demonstrated knowledge of and/or experience in operating SAP payroll.
• Must have end to end payroll experience
